When I was 16 years old I published my first book. For many years it had been such a big dream of mine, because since I was 5 years old I have loved to write. When I made the decision to publish my book at such a young age, I was terrified at first. Wasn’t I too young? Would people be jealous and be mean to me because of it? Would anyone like it?
But I soon realized that my age or what other people might think of me and my book did not define me. Age is just a number, it tells you how old you are - not what you are capable of doing. No matter your age, you can help someone and that was the exact thing I really hoped to do with my book, by sharing things from my own life. And that is just what I did. My book was even asked to be used at an asylum centre here in Europe.
What would have happened if I had let my age or my fear for other people stop me? I would not have been able to do the thing that made me ME and I wouldn't have been able to reach so many people. Below are some things the process of writing and publishing my book has taught me:
